What's in the Game
1,700+ teams, six sports, 60+ countries — and every pin is a real stadium.
Everything in LogoMapper is a real club playing a real season somewhere right now. The pin is the ground itself, not the middle of the city, which matters more than it sounds — a lot of clubs don't play anywhere near the place they're named after. There's a whole guide on that, because it catches people out constantly.
One thing you won't find here: a list of the leagues. That's on purpose. If you knew exactly which competitions were in the pool, the hard questions would stop being hard — you could work out an unfamiliar crest by crossing off everything it isn't. So here's the shape of it. The rest you find out by playing.
The rough shape of it
| Sport | How deep it goes |
|---|---|
| Soccer | By far the biggest chunk — top flights and a fair number of second tiers, spread over five continents |
| American football | The pros, plus two levels of college |
| Baseball | The majors, several rungs of the minors, and a couple of leagues from Asia |
| Ice hockey | Pro, plus one major junior league |
| Cricket | The newest addition — one marquee T20 franchise league |
| Basketball | Men's and women's pro |
Soccer travels furthest — Europe and South America as you'd expect, but also Africa, the Middle East, South and East Asia, and Oceania. The North American sports stay put in the US and Canada.
In practice a Daily round can bounce you from a big European club to a minor league ballpark to something on the other side of the world in the space of five questions.
How the modes differ
All three pull from the same pool, but they cut it differently — which changes what you're up against.
- Daily — the whole lot, every sport. The broadest, and for most people the hardest, because a round can go anywhere.
- Footy Daily — soccer only. Since it isn't sharing slots with other sports it reaches further down the pyramid, so expect more second and third tiers than Daily throws at you.
- USA Daily — North American leagues, from the big pro ones down to lower-level baseball and college football. It scores more harshly than the other modes, deliberately: when everything's on one continent, being 500 km out should cost you more than it does on a world map.
One consequence worth knowing: a league that counts as hard in Daily might only be middling in Footy, because there it's competing against other football clubs rather than against the biggest North American teams. Same club, different question difficulty depending on which mode you're in.
What's deliberately left out
- Clubs that no longer exist. Current seasons only.
- Neutral and temporary grounds. If a club has a proper home and occasionally plays elsewhere, the proper home is what counts.
- Youth, reserve and B sides, even when they play in a senior division.
Found something wrong?
Entirely possible. Clubs go up and down, stadiums get renamed after whoever's sponsoring them this year, and occasionally a club changes name outright mid-season. If a team's in the wrong place or a badge is out of date, do let me know — the contact page has the details.
Enough preamble.
