Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

This policy explains what LogoMapper stores, what third parties are involved, and what control you have. LogoMapper is operated by Jonathan Schuller as an independent project. For visitors covered by the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Jonathan Schuller is the data controller for this site, reachable at the contact address at the bottom of this page.

The short version

Data stored in your browser

LogoMapper uses your browser's local storage to remember your play history. This is not a cookie. Apart from the leaderboard score described above, none of it is sent anywhere — it stays on your device. The stored values are:

What is storedWhy
Your results for each daily modeTo show your summary if you revisit after playing, and to prevent replaying a day's round
Your daily streakTo display consecutive days played
Whether you dismissed the instructionsSo the help panel doesn't reappear every visit
Your sound effects on/off settingSo the sound toggle in the menu remembers your choice
An anonymous leaderboard IDA random value so the board can recognise your own row. Not linked to any name or account

Because this data lives only in your browser, it is per-device: your streak on a phone is separate from your streak on a laptop. Clearing your browser's site data for logomapper.gg will permanently erase your history and streak, and there is no way to recover it — the only copy was the one on your device.

The daily leaderboard

When you finish a daily round, your score is sent to the leaderboard so it can tell you where you placed and show the day's top ten. This is the only thing on the site that leaves your browser.

What gets sent:

SentWhy
Your total score and your five per-question scoresTo rank you and to fill in the Q1–Q5 columns on the board
An anonymous IDA random number generated by your browser, so the board can stop one browser submitting twice and can highlight your own row
The date and game modeTo put the score on the right day's board

No name, no email, no account. The anonymous ID is a random value created in your browser — it is not derived from your device, and it identifies a browser profile rather than a person. Clearing your site data replaces it with a new one.

Leaderboard scores are deleted automatically after 30 days. Your IP address is not stored with your score, though as with any web request it appears briefly in server logs.

There is no way to opt out of the leaderboard while still playing the daily game, because the score submission is what produces your rank. If you would rather not appear at all, Endless mode has no leaderboard and submits nothing.

Advertising — Google AdSense

LogoMapper displays ads served by Google AdSense. This is how the site is funded. The site also runs advertising campaigns through Google Ads, and uses the Google tag (gtag.js) to measure whether those campaigns lead to visits — called conversion measurement. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this measurement follows the same consent choice you make in the consent message described below.

You can control this directly:

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message is shown before ads may use your data. It is Google's certified consent management platform, integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, and the choice you make in it governs how your data is used for advertising on this site. The legal basis for advertising cookies is your consent, and you can change or withdraw it at any time:

Change or withdraw your advertising consent choices (EEA, UK and Switzerland — reopens the consent message).

Analytics — Cloudflare Web Analytics

LogoMapper uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It is deliberately chosen because it is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track people across sites. It reports aggregate figures such as page views and country of origin. It cannot identify you individually, and there is no cross-site profile.

Any service that sends you a file necessarily receives your IP address — that is how the web works. Server access logs are retained for operational and security purposes such as diagnosing faults and detecting abuse, and are deleted automatically after 12 months.

Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR applies, the legal bases for the processing described above are:

ProcessingLegal basis
Advertising cookies and personalised ads (Google AdSense)Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), given or refused in the consent message and withdrawable at any time via the link above
The daily leaderboard (score, anonymous ID, date)Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — operating the ranking feature that finishing a daily round invokes, with minimal data and 30-day deletion
Server access logs (IP addresses)Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — site security, abuse detection and fault diagnosis

The play history, streak and settings kept in your browser's local storage are not sent to us at all. That storage is strictly necessary for features you actively use, which is the category the EU ePrivacy rules exempt from consent requirements.

International transfers

The third-party providers named above — Google, Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services — are US companies, so data they receive (such as your IP address) may be processed in the United States. Each of these three is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the mechanism under which the European Commission recognises transfers to participating US organisations as providing adequate protection. Esri, which serves the globe's satellite imagery directly to your browser, handles requests under its own privacy statement.

Your rights (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the GDPR applies, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal), and the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection supervisory authority.

A practical note on exercising them here: this site holds nothing that identifies you — no name, email, or account — so most stored data cannot be linked to a person by us or anyone else. The one server-side record is your leaderboard row, keyed only by the random ID in your browser. If you want a leaderboard entry deleted before its automatic 30-day expiry, include that ID (visible in your browser's site data for logomapper.gg) in your request so the row can be found.

Children

LogoMapper is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since the site has no accounts and collects no personal details, there is nothing for a child to submit.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — for example if a new third-party service is added — the "last updated" date above will change. Since there are no accounts, there is no way to notify you directly, so this page is the record.
